Kalka–Shimla Railway is a historic, 96 km (59 mi) narrow-gauge railway in India, known as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. It connects Kalka in Haryana to Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, traversing scenic, mountainous terrain and considered an engineering marvel for its 103 tunnels, 864 bridges, and 919 curves. Originally built to connect Shimla, the summer capital during British rule, to the rest of the Indian rail system, it is now a popular tourist attraction, often called the "toy train"
